Aavid, Thermal Division of Boyd Corporation Max Clip™ Heat Sinks

Aavid, Thermal Division of Boyd Corporation Max Clip^™ Heat Sinks are anodized and cut-to-length extrusion with pre-installed solder pins. These heat sinks with/without the integrated clip feature do not require a max clip, as the clip selection is dependent on the geometry of the device. The max clip heat sinks are customizable, easily assembled before wave soldering, and RoHS compliant.

The max clips are a high-performance and low-cost thermal solution for discrete power semiconductors. These thermal systems combine the specialized extruded max clip heat sinks with Aavid max clips for optimized thermal contact. The max clips systems eliminate the need for mounting holes, screws, or rivets while optimizing the contact and thermal efficiency of the heat sink. These systems apply consistent and uniform pressure at the center of the semiconductor, improving contact with the heat sink for better thermal performance and reliability. The max clips are designed to accommodate a variety of semiconductor packages, including TO-220, TO-218, TO-247, and TO-3P. These Aavid systems also accommodate packages without mounting holes like TO-262, TO-273, TO-274, and TO-251. The max clips are quick, robust attachments that are labor and hardware costs saving options while increasing design flexibility.
