Analog Devices Inc. EVAL-ADRF5044 Eval Board for ADRF5044 SP4T Switch
Analog Devices EVAL-ADRF5044 Evaluation Board demonstrates the performance of the 100MHz to 30GHz ADRF5044 SP4T Switches. The evaluation board consists of four layers, with each copper layer separated by dielectric materials. The top layer features an 8mil Rogers RO4003 dielectric material that offers optimal high-frequency performance. This Analog Devices board has an overall thickness of 62mil. The board design allows designers to connect 2.4mm RF launchers at the board edges. The board routes all RF and DC traces to the top copper layer. The inner and bottom layers are planes that offer a solid grounding for the RF transmission lines. The middle and bottom dielectric materials are designed to provide mechanical strength. The RF transmission lines use a coplanar waveguide (CPWG) model. These RF transmission lines have a trace width of 14mil, ground clearance of 5mil, and provide a characteristic impedance of 50Ω. For optimal RF and thermal grounding, as many plated through-hole vias as possible are arranged around transmission lines and under the exposed pad of the package. The RF input and output ports are connected through the 50Ω transmission lines to the 2.4mm RF launchers. A through-calibration line (TRL) connects the unpopulated J6 and J7 launchers. The TRL is used to estimate the loss of the PCB over the environmental conditions being evaluated.
